The Health Act 2009 was tabled in the House of Lords at the beginning of this year. Within the Act are tobacco control measures to prohibit the display of tobacco at the point of sale and restrict access to vending machines for young people.

We support this legislation and further amendments which included:

• Prohibiting the sale of tobacco from vending machines
  
• Mandating plain packaging for all tobacco products apart from the product name and the health warning

We need you to write to your MP in support of the measures and to encourage others, particularly health professionals and elected members to also write in support.
